The heart of the world
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is regarded by the Indigenous Kogi, Arhuaco, Wiwa, and Kankuamo peoples as the “Heart of the World,” a sacred territory where the balance between nature and community is understood as the foundation of the planet’s well-being.
This worldview is rooted in the concept of Aluna, which expresses the interconnection between the physical and spiritual dimensions.
In this context, coffee production is an integral part of local culture and is carried out through traditional and sustainable methods based on organic farming, polyculture, and rituals guided by the Mamos, the community’s spiritual leaders.
The project aims to document and enhance this ancestral knowledge, fostering its transmission to younger generations and its global dissemination through digital tools and new forms of storytelling.
