In a coffee bean, the journey of yesterday is etched, leaving the imprint of
tomorrow.
Over the past 20 years, we have embarked on a gradual journey that began in the lands
where coffee grows — a long path that has involved the ecosystems and communities at
the heart of its production. Together with them, we have charted new directions and paths,
transforming a coffee bean into the seed for a prosperous, fair, and sustainable future for
all.

With “More than Us,” the Lavazza 2024 Calendar, Africa takes center stage and becomes
the megaphone for the core values that have shaped 20 years of activities, projects, and
partnerships: openness, dialogue, and cooperation.
Through the colors, faces, landscapes, and culture of the mother continent of the coffee
plant, the Foundation revisits, month by month, the inspiring principles that underpin
initiatives carried out in coffee-producing lands.
On this day, when the future of humanity takes center stage more than ever, we revisited
the evolution of our collaboration with Save the Children, which began in 2001, even before
the Foundation was born.
Thanks to this transformative partnership, driven by the synergy of action and the pooling
of respective expertise, we have achieved significant results over the years of shared
initiatives and projects.
The International Day of Education was also the event that launched a year of celebration
and reflection on the first 20 years of the Foundation.
In honor of this day, we decided to share the key milestones and achievements reached
through cooperation with Save the Children via the A Cup of Learning and CivicoZero
projects.
Food has always been about culture, dialogue, and unity. Today, food can also be a
powerful vehicle for fighting food waste and promoting education on sustainable and
responsible consumption.
On World Food Waste Prevention Day, we hosted the People's lunch, an awareness raising
initiative on geographic inequalities organized by Sermig - Missionary Youth
Service, a Turin-based organization aimed at eradicating world hunger.
“This is (not) a girls' job: how women shape the coffee industry.” Through this webinar,
held on International Women's Day, we highlighted the importance of women's
contributions to the coffee supply chain and the Foundation's role in projects carried out in
coffee-producing countries to promote women's empowerment.
An international platform that gave voice to women involved in various stages of the
production chain, providing insights into sector dynamics and future perspectives.
To celebrate Earth Day, we donated 500 trees to the city of Turin, aimed at regenerating
and protecting the biodiversity of Parco Stura.
Together with Rete Clima and 100 Lavazza Group colleagues, we dedicated the day to
reforestation, selecting native certified seeds to recreate a suitable ecosystem.
The climate threat is serious, but a smile could be the first step in acquiring the theoretical tools to address it. On World Environment Day, we launched the board game “Coffree: free the coffee plantations from climate threats,” created in collaboration with BEING Agency.
On World Refugee Day, we celebrated another milestone of our 20th anniversary by
focusing on inclusion and community care.
More than 80 colleagues took part in an immersive experience called Exodus, created in
collaboration with SOS Mediterranee Italia and Atera.
On September 30th, with the event The Coffeeprint of Tomorrow, we concluded the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Lavazza Foundation, reflecting on the journey that brought us here and envisioning the future ahead. It was an intense and enriching day, featuring the sharing of testimonials from our partners and a collective vision of an increasingly sustainable and inclusive coffee supply chain. We explored how coffee can become a megaphone for social and environmental change, bringing together communities, experts, and global partners. This event was not only a moment of celebration but also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to coffee producing countries by promoting innovative and sustainable practices that can leave a positive impact on the planet and its people.

“Beans that made history"
If, in 20 years, our coffee bean has come so far, it is thanks, first and foremost, to the many
collaborations we have forged over the course of our projects.
For this, we thank
all the
entities with whom we have established a fruitful dialogue that has led to the sharing of
goals and strategies.
We would like to thank, above all, the communities of coffee-producing countries, the nonprofit
organizations, the government agencies, and everyone who has helped make the
Lavazza Foundation's mission a reality: turning the quality of a coffee bean into a vehicle
for collective growth and prosperity, in harmony with the planet.
