World Water Day

What does access to clean drinking water mean in a community of coffee producers?

In Honduras, through the Climate-Smart Region project — implemented in partnership with the Neumann Foundation (HRNS) and with the support of a specialized water purifier provider — six local micro-enterprises dedicated to water purification were created.
Managed directly by the communities, these micro-enterprises now ensure access to safe drinking water for over 900 coffee-farming families, improving health, quality of life, and the sustainability of agricultural practices.

Access to drinking water not only reduces the risk of waterborne diseases but also frees up time and energy that can be reinvested in farming, training, and community well-being.

Earth Day

For the second year in a row, we celebrated Earth Day by planting over 500 new trees in a southern park in Turin.
Poplars, hazelnuts, and other native species were planted in the Foundation’s BioBosco thanks to the dedication of more than 50 Lavazza Group employees and their families, contributing to the creation of green urban spaces and the regeneration of natural ecosystems.
This initiative is part of the Foresta Italia national campaign, promoted by Rete Clima in collaboration with Coldiretti and PEFC, and supported by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Transition and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry.

UN World Refugee Day

To mark World Refugee Day, the Lavazza Foundation organized an awareness event at Spazio Dorado in Turin, involving two key partners: Mosaico – Azione per i Rifugiati and Save the Children – Civico Zero.

The event welcomed around 100 participants, including 50 colleagues from Nuvola and 50 beneficiaries and staff members from the two associations.

Mosaico presented the artworks created as part of the contest “Ai miei sogni non rinuncio” (I Will Not Give Up on My Dreams), while Save the Children showcased original music produced by young participants in the Lavazza Basement Rooms, including a live performance that highlighted the inclusive and empowering power of music.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

Did you know that more than 370 million Indigenous people live across 90 countries worldwide?

Among them is Raquel Pereira Viana, a young Wapichana leader from the Indigenous community of Tabalascada, in Roraima, Brazil.

On the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we want to share her story: in 2025, Raquel was selected for the GLF Restoration Stewards program — an opportunity that will allow her to strengthen her community’s efforts in protecting ecosystems and safeguarding traditional seeds.

Raquel’s work goes hand in hand with that of many other communities we support around the world, from the Quilombolas in Brazil to the Boca Pariamanu in Peru, and the Poq’omchi in Guatemala.

International Day of Peace

Coffee can be much more than just a beverage.
In countries affected by conflict and instability, a coffee bean can become a seed of peace, redemption, and future.

In Colombia, together with Carcafé Foundation, coffee has become a megaphone of rebirth in the Meta region, a territory long marked by the violence of civil war.
In Guatemala, in the Alta Verapaz region, in partnership with Asociación Civil Verdad y Vida, coffee is an instrument of empowerment for Maya Poq’omchi women, who now cultivate not only their own coffee but also new opportunities.
And in Yemen, with Qima Foundation, coffee represents resilience and hope, offering tangible support to strengthen local communities in a context of profound crisis.

Three stories, three territories, one message: coffee can build bridges and open new paths toward peace.

“The coffee bean is also a seed of peace.”
— Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Nobel Peace Prize 1992, guest speaker at the first edition of The Coffeeprint of Tomorrow

International Coffee Day

On the occasion of International Coffee Day, the second edition of “The Coffeeprint of Tomorrow – Cultivating Coffee Value” took place on 7 October.
The event, promoted by the Lavazza Foundation, aimed to foster an open and constructive dialogue on the major challenges the coffee world is facing today.
The day brought together key international stakeholders, producers, researchers, and institutional representatives to share experiences, analyze critical issues, and outline common perspectives for a more sustainable and inclusive coffee sector.
Moderated by Mariangela Pira, a leading voice in economics and international affairs at Sky, the event featured keynote speeches, conversations, and round tables addressing the most pressing topics for the future of coffee:

An analysis of the global coffee market and its key challenges in recent years — from price volatility to climate pressures, and from changing consumption patterns to geopolitical tensions affecting supply chains.

With contributions from Eduardo Esteve (Ecom Agroindustrial Corp), Mariana Lima Veloso (Veloso Coffee), Osvaldo Zucchino (El Gigante Coffee Estate), and Marco Riccardo Rusconi (AICS), this discussion highlighted how the value of coffee can become a driver of shared growth, generating positive economic and social impacts throughout the value chain.

Economist and global leader in sustainable development Jeffrey Sachs reflected on the decade since the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the urgency of accelerating collective action and redefining priorities toward the post-2030 agenda.

The session opened with Lara Fornabaio, Lead Researcher at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, presenting a paper on “Coffee SDG Plans” — territorial strategies designed to improve producers’ livelihoods through targeted investments aligned with the SDGs.
The discussion involved Josep Garí (UNDP), Stefano Gatti (Development Cooperation), Mario Cerutti (Lavazza Foundation), and Juan Esteban Orduz (Archeterra Global), exploring the role of public-private partnerships in creating long-term value across the coffee supply chain.

Giuseppe Lavazza, Chairman of Lavazza Group, concluded the event by underlining the importance of a shared commitment to cultivating a new way of defining coffee’s value.
